In addition to the many wilderness cabins, for our activities we use the camp of the Wilderness Lodge, which is located in the region of Nord-Dalarna near Särna. The region lies in central Sweden and can therefore be reached quickly and affordably from central Europe. The Wilderness Lodge is 260 km north of Oslo airport and is easily reached by plane, bus or car. There is snow here from December to the end of April, and there are more moose than people. Wolves and bears also roam the land. The climate is continental, with cold winters. It is comparatively sunny. Even in deep winter there is still daylight for a long time, which is a clear advantage over northern Scandinavia. The region is home to the Fulufjäll National Park, Sweden's southernmost mountain range — an untouched natural paradise with Sweden's highest waterfall.
The Wilderness Lodge lies eight kilometres from Särna and is surrounded by pure wilderness. The nearest inhabited house is five kilometres away. The Wilderness Lodge sits in a remote valley on a 30-metre-wide river that freezes solid in winter. Just 20 km away the Fjäll region begins — a treeless mountain world offering unique vistas.
We also maintain a mountain camp at altitude in the Norwegian/Swedish mountain region close to the treeline, in one of the most snow-reliable areas of Europe. We are perfectly set up for any weather — we have run these tours for over 15 years, from early December to mid-April, and have never had to cancel a tour.
