Tour description Sled dog tour 7 days:

  • On the day of arrival, participants will be introduced to the dogs and the subject matter, and a cozy welcome dinner with salmon will be served in a Finnish kota by an open fire. Afterwards, they will spend the night at the wilderness lodge in rustic Swedish log cabins, which exude a special atmosphere with their wood-burning stove and candlelight.
  • In the morning, we head out into the wilderness with the sled dog teams and spend the night in a wilderness hut, far from any civilization. Everyone drives their own team of three to four large and powerful Alaskan Malamutes and Greenland Dogs. These dogs are significantly larger and stronger than the modern sled dogs that are mostly used for tourist tours these days. They have a special charisma, a lot of personality, and are friendly towards people. The route and accommodations can be discussed within the group and adapted accordingly to the wishes of the guests. The Wilderness Lodge camp is located at an altitude of approximately 500 meters. It is possible to reach the treeless fell region at over 1000 meters in a single day's hike and enjoy unique views of the Swedish and Norwegian mountains. Alternatively, we can embark on a journey through the wild mountain valleys and look for signs of moose and wolves. There are various wilderness cabins available for visits. Of course, we must take the weather into account when deciding on the route.
  • On the third day, after a long day's hike, we reach the Wilderness Lodge camp in the evening, where we spend the night in the comfort of Swedish log cabins.
  • The fourth day is for recovery. After the first part of the adventure, a relaxing day is a great way to recharge your batteries. For example, guests can unwind with a walk to a waterfall with an older Alaskan Malamute/Greenland Dog and take in the tranquility of the Swedish winter. You can also warm up in the rustic, wood-heated wilderness sauna.
  • On the fifth day, we head back into the wilderness with renewed energy. We explore a new, unfamiliar area with our dog teams and reach another wilderness hut in the evening.
  • On the sixth day, we roam with our teams through the tranquility of the Scandinavian winter landscape and arrive at the Wilderness Lodge camp in the evening, where we round off the experience with a typical Swedish meal around the campfire. Elk entrecôte is prepared over the fire. You can also warm up in the rustic, wood-heated wilderness sauna.
  • On the seventh day, after breakfast and saying goodbye to the dogs, it's time to depart.

Overnight stays:
During the tour, we stay in simple mountain wooden huts without electricity or running water. Alternatively, we can also stay in a Native American tent heated by a stove. Before the stove provides cozy warmth, it's time to chop wood. Otherwise, you'll spend the night at the Wilderness Lodge near Särna. The Wilderness Lodge consists of rustic Swedish log cabins that exude a special atmosphere with candlelight, torches, and fire-heated stoves. This concept has proven itself with us for 15 years; it's timeless and would have worked hundreds of years ago, as there is no permanent electricity here. Four people will stay in a log cabin; an overnight stay for two people can be booked for an additional charge.

Meals:
The food selection during the tour is based on many years of experience and is suitable for expeditions. At the Wilderness Lodge, traditional dishes are prepared directly over an open fire in a Finnish kota (traditional hut). Everyone sits together around the fire, and the food is served. Preparing dinner and eating together around the campfire is an experience. Salmon and elk are on the menu. Vegetarian meals are also available, but must be requested when booking.

Weather:
The area is considered one of the snowiest regions in Europe. Winter comes early and says goodbye late. The clear air is very dry, so that it is less cold than in our latitudes. Most of the time it is sunny and the sky is a bright blue shade. Almost 98% of our guests said the temperatures were pleasant. 85% of those guests who were in Sweden for the first time found the winter warmer than originally expected. Very good snow conditions and a wonderful starry sky compensate for cold nights.

Personal equipment:
Für For winter activities you need good and warm clothing, preferably made of windproof and breathable materials. Ski clothing combined with thermal underwear is sufficient in most cases. Head torch, thermos flask, sunglasses and protective cream should not be missing.

Sleeping bags, overalls and shoes for low temperatures can be borrowed spontaneously on site for a fee.
SEK 30 (approx. € 3.30) per item per day.
